De-stress at Two Williamsburg Salons

I love Christmas, but I confess I get a bit overwrought trying to take advantage of all the activities this time of year. So, last Saturday I splurged on a wonderful stress reliever at European Beauty Concepts in the Williamsburg Shopping Center. I booked a facial with my favorite aesthetician Kayci. She has a wonderful, healing touch and is very knowledgeable about skin and skincare products. She uses Guinot products, which are not heavily scented—a plus for my allergies. She perked up my dry winter complexion and relaxed me with a soothing shoulder, arm, and hand massage while the facial products worked their magic. I left feeling fortified to enjoy the coming week’s events.

My regular salon for hair is Illusions by Marcus. It’s farther to drive to from my house, but I love its pretty location, nestled in the trees of McLaws Circle. The salon is spacious and elegant, but not at all stuffy. I chose it after driving to several salons to do the “sniff test.” No kidding, I hate the smell of permanent and dye solutions, so it’s a big factor for me. Marcus must have chosen a good air handling system, because I never smell chemicals. Marcus is a southern gentleman who has created a gracious environment. He and his staff are master stylists who can handle any type of hair. Everyone I’ve seen there looks fabulous on the way out! (Disclosure: I built the web site for Illusions by Marcus. In a week or so, we’ll be able to make our appointments online – how cool is that?!)
