Eat, Shop, Support Charities

When it comes to supporting charities, Williamsburg isn’t just generous, it’s creative. Here are three fun ways to help:

  • The 20th Annual Crab Race at Berret’s Seafood Restaurant is on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, from 6-7. Crabs will be provided, or you can, um, take your own. Entry fees benefit the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
  • On Sept. 19 at Prime Outlets, your $10 donation to CHKD earns you a bonus card good for up to 25% off at participating stores: 2b bebe, AK Anne Klein Outlet, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Bass, Calphalon Kitchen Outlet, Calvin Klein, Chico’s Outlet, Dooney & Bourke, Ecco, Haggar, Harry & David, J.J. Jitterzz, Jockey, Jones New York Outlet, Kasper Outlet, Kitchen Collection, Le Gourmet Chef, Maidenform, Perfumania, Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store, Reebok Outlet, Rockport Outlet, Ultra Diamonds, Van Heusen, Wilson’s Leather.
  • Through October 4 area restaurants, wine shops and other vendors will be holding raffles to support area charities. Visit a participating vendor, purchase a ballot and take a guess at the number of corks in a container. The person who selects the number closest to the actual without going over wins $100. Winners will be announce the week of October 4. Proceeds will support direct grants from the Williamsburg Community Health Foundation to nonprofit organizations in our community.
